West Fargo hotel changes name from Cambria Hotel and Suites to DoubleTree by Hilton

February 2, 2017

WEST FARGO- The first hotel and convention center to be built south of the Main Avenue area here has been upgraded and rebranded.

The Cambria Hotel and Suites is now a DoubleTree by Hilton, making it the first DoubleTree hotel in the state of North Dakota.

The hotel at 825 E. Beaton Drive is owned by Sioux Falls, S.D.-based KAJ Hospitality, and opened in 2014. It is connected to the West Fargo Conference Center, which can host meetings and events for up to 500 people.

“We are excited to further our investment in the Fargo market,” Chief Financial Officer Aaron Johnson said in a statement. “The hotel is already well-known for the upscale conference and wedding space it provides. Our staff has completed rigorous training to deliver the high level of service that DoubleTree and each of our KAJ Hospitality hotels is known for.”

Cambria was a part of Choice Hotels International, which includes Fargo hotels such as the Sleep Inn and Suites.

The DoubleTree has 103 rooms that are decorated by locally inspired art and design elements.

The DoubleTree brand boasts oversized guest rooms, each more than 500 square feet,

sofa sleepers, a fridge, a microwave, and two HDTVs in rooms. There is a lobby restaurant, an indoor pool and whirlpool, and a 24-hour fitness center at the hotel.

A 1,760-square-foot expansion to the West Fargo Conference Center is underway. A second hotel, Homewood Suites by Hilton West Fargo, is also under construction and will be connected to the convention center.

Along with KAJ, developer Todd Berning, who spearheaded the Sheyenne Complex on Sheyenne Street project, plans the $14.5 million Homewood Suites to open this fall. It will be a four-story, roughly 105-room stay space.

KAJ Hospitality manages nine upper-midscale hotels in North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Wyoming that include Marriott, Hilton, and InterContinental Hotels Group. According to a release from KAJ, two additional hotels, one in Omaha, Neb., and Sioux Falls, are in the planning stages. KAJ Hospitality also owns the Hampton Inn Suites Fargo.
